"Wonderful facility. Staff is just great! Although an historic building, it is extremely well maintained. Our room and head were spotless. Breakfast by Martha was over the top. We had to make a change to our stay and both Kim and Amanda who handle bookings were so very helpful. We will be back! Noteworthy details: They have a floating dock with space available for guest boats."

"Our stay was exceptional. We were only there one night while traveling from Nags Head to Wilmington. The building has historic and eccentric charm. We walked to the nearby lighthouse and Springers Point. Breakfast was excellent. Noteworthy details: I recommend learning about Samuel Jones, the guy that built the place. You can also visit his gravesite at Springer's Point where he was buried next to his horse."

"This place was lovely! We have been coming to the island for the last 18 years and always rent a house for the week in the fall. My husband and myself wanted a little time away, without our grown daughters and dogs, so chose the Castle. Check in was flawless. Walked straight to our room, and everywhere else in the house, as I had looked at the floor plan on the website. Neat! Our room was in the front of the house on the first floor (Mary’s) and was very warm. It was better once we realized there was a vent under the bed covered up by the area rug! Also, the couple across the hall gave us a big fan that was in their room. So nice! The breakfast each morning was very good and the cook was a very nice lady. Having the bikes to grab and go was a nice touch as we normally rent them for the week. We didn’t get a golf cart since we were there only a few days, but there is dedicated parking for them. We would definitely stay here again!"

"The people who do not find this place at 5 stars are either unlucky or really critical. This place is what you expect a bed and breakfast to be. We stayed in the main building. It isn't a hotel. The rooms are all unique and the place is filled with antiques. The AC may not be the best but our room was plenty cool. The television didn't have a clear picture in our room but we weren't there to watch TV. There was a larger TV in the living area that had a roku if anyone had to see something. Breakfast at 8am was superb and Marta was kind and kept up with the crowd. Fresh baked fig cake was a treat one morning. There is now a code entry to the rooms as there is no staff there after a certain time of the day to handle check in. This worked seamlessly for us. We are aware that another couple had a little trouble getting into their room but it didn't take long for them to get in. Maybe they had the wrong number or didn't follow instruction. The place is a really big house and it feels like home. You can roam around as you like and enjoy the pictures and neat furniture. And the gardens and pool are beautiful. There's a view of the Marina. Ice machine off kitchen area with water. Don't miss out. This is a historic building and has a lot of character and history on Ocracoke. We stayed in Ginny's room. We picked it based on it's vicinity to the screen porch which we sat on quite frequently. It is one of the smaller rooms but still plenty of space."

"Amazing Place! A few tipstip: If you get "Patti's room" be prepared to be woken up by the guests who must have been up that early! . (the only negative thing; should have had a SIGN, please be aware, people sleeping on first floor). ALSO would have been great to have a person on-hand to answer any local questions; no one to greet any guests."
