"Aptly named the Castle, this is a place fit for kings and queens! Feeling like royalty every minute here seems just to be the order of the day. My prince – of 30 years yesterday – and I have been to the island two other times, but this is our first trip to the Castle. Friendly folks – eager to make you feel at home as well as very welcome and dear guests – are rare, but describe each of the staff members here, especially Ginny. Many thanks to each of you! Ask questions of all locals, especially at shops, and your knowledge of Ocracoke will be tenfold."

"We survived Hurricane Noel! The ferry ride over was quite dicey, and we were without electricity for over two hours. The innkeeper, Jamie, stuck around and provided flashlights and pointed us to the restaurants with generators. In spite of all this, we had a wonderful, relaxing time with our friends. The weather cleared and was beautiful. Each time we leave, we talk about coming back."

"Our yearly week at The Castle was as perfect as we thought. We met other guests, the McGoverns, here again this year. They make the stay at The Castle a special one. It’s not just anyplace that you meet such nice people. The weather was great, although warm. We met a mewlywed couple staying at the Net House and the six of us met up on the beach. We made a big sand castle, rode the boogie board, walked and visited. Biking is the best mode of travel in town. We look forward to October when we return for another week. It should be really different then!"

"We made it back as hoped! Another fantastic week. We did so much, saw so much, no time to write this year. Perseid Meteor Shower was a highlight – 100 meters per hour out on the beach! Lots of yummy bluefish dinners, great shows at the Deepwater Theater, happy days spent in and around the Castle, terrific staff… We met the former owner Steve Wright and some of the new owners Sophie and Bob. Seems as if they love it as much as Steve which is great news for us visitors! Kayaking, riding the waves at the beach, meeting lots of new and interesting people, really helped to make this fantastic time once again and best of all, I got to spend nine solid days with my sweetie of 38 years! To all subsequent visitors, enjoy – it really is heaven on earth on Ocracoke."
