A widow's walk is a railed, rooftop platform that was designed to watch for ships. They were often paced by mariners' wives in search of their husbands to return from sea. Too often, the wives lost their husbands to sea, earning the deck the name.

There are several widow's walks on Ocracoke, but none that offer such a breathtaking panoramic view of the village, sound, and ocean. Enjoy sunsets and watch the activity of the village. The only access to the widow's walk are the outside steps at the back of The Castle.

The Widow's Walk is open daily to all guests from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
