The Duck Family at the Castle Bed & Breakfast

It was last September that two web footed guests arrived at the front door of the Castle B&B. Since then, the mom has become like family. Just recently the Castle family grew by eight babies.

This afternoon, they came to visit just outside the front door. With one baby injured, Elizabeth Hanrahan, Ocracoke's Wildlife Rehabilitator was called. The entire family was moved to "rehab" under the compassionate care of Elizabeth. A tearful Innkeeper held her friend, the mother duck, while the ducklings were gathered for their trip across the island.

Mom and babies are receiving loving care. We are looking forward to their return to the castle.

The babies are so sweet. I so look forward to my next visit to the Castle Bed & Breakfast. The staff is so welcoming. It is like coming home.
